Slide Tackling

Outfield Players
Slide Tackling is NOT permitted.

Sliding to play the ball where all opponents are more than 1 yard away: permitted

Sliding to play the ball where an opponent is 1 yard or less away, but no contact is made: indirect free kick

Slide tackles that are deemed careless or reckless, or if the tackle makes any contact with their opponent: player is given a yellow card + indirect free kick or PK if inside penalty area

Slide tackles that use excessive force or endanger the safety of an opponent: player is given a red card + indirect free kick or PK if inside penalty area
Keepers
Keepers are permitted to perform slide tackles in their own penalty area in accordance with FIFA rules.
Once they leave their area they are considered an outfield player, and the 'Outfield Player' rules outlined above will apply.
