U14-U18 Playoffs
17 February 2026 @ 11:08 AM by Coliseum Admin

Every U14 through U18 team will be scheduled to play two (2) playoff games, regardless of where they finish in the standings.

Playoffs will be held over two weekends, February 21-22 & February 28-March 1.

  • Saturdays Feb 21 & 28: Everyone except for Boys U15
  • Sundays Feb 22 & Mar 1: Boys U15 only

Most teams will play both weekends, however in divisions with an odd number of teams, there will be at least one team that plays two games (doubleheader) on one weekend and none the other.

Here's an overview of the format:

  • For every division, the top four (4) qualify for the 'Championship Playoff' (i.e., are competing to hoist the trophy). These are the games marked on the website as 'SEMIFINAL'. The following week, the winners will play in the 'FINAL', and the losers will play for 3rd Place
  • Depending on the number of teams in your division, there may also be a Consolation Bracket ('Consolation Semifinal') and Wooden Spoon Bracket ('Wooden Spoon Semifinal'). These brackets will operate the same as the 'Championship Playoff' - two semifinals, a 3rd place game, and a final (but without a trophy for the winner)
  • Wooden Spoon Leg #1 & Leg #2: You'll play the same opponent in both weeks
  • For divisions with an odd number of teams, for example a 7-team division: the top four will make the playoff, and teams that finish 5th, 6th or 7th will play eachother (e.g., 5th v 6th, 5th v 7th, etc.).  Because there are three games to be played but only two weekends to work with, one of these teams will play a doubleheader

The idea is to give teams two competitive games to end the season, regardless of where they finished in the table.

The Feb 21-22 schedule is now finalized and posted to the Coliseum website.  Where/when you play on Feb 28 or Mar 1 depends on if you win/lose Feb 21-22. The Feb 28-Mar 1 schedule will be posted to the website by no later than Feb 23.

While the exact time and location won't be confirmed until Feb 23, teams can check out the League Schedule to find out when they will play based on the result of their Feb 21-22 game.  To see the entire playoff schedule select the hyperlink at the bottom of your team's schedule where it says "Click here to see the rest of the fixtures for your league.".

There are no playoffs for U12 & U13 grassroots teams.

Looking forward to a fun last couple of weeks!  If you have any questions regarding playoffs, don't hesitate to drop us a line admin@coliseum.ca

Sat Jan 24 Scheduling Adjustments
22 January 2026 @ 3:55 PM by Coliseum Admin

Due to the extreme cold in the forecast for this coming Saturday, games scheduled to kickoff between 7:00am and 2:00pm at the RA Centre have been pushed back two (2) hours.  This means that games previously scheduled to kickoff at 7am will now start at 9am, 8am games at 10am, etc.

Additionally, games previously scheduled to kickoff at 3:00 and 4:00pm at the RA Centre have been moved to the OttawaU Lees facility, kicking off an hour later than previously scheduled. We followed up with these coaches and teams managers earlier today via email to inform them of the changes.

The schedule on the Coliseum website is now updated.  Please be sure to update your players, parents and internal team schedule accordingly.

A couple of additional notes for all teams playing Saturday, regardless of where you play:

  • Teams now scheduled to play at 9:00am at the RA: the dome will be open by 8:30am
  • Games scheduled to be played at the RA between 5-10pm will keep the same schedule
  • There are no scheduling changes to games being played at OttawaU, Ben Franklin, Hornets Nest and Thunderbird.
  • Whether you are playing, coaching or spectating - dress warm!!

January 16 Roster Freeze
7 January 2026 @ 2:53 PM by Coliseum Admin

**The January 16 Roster Freeze is only applicable to U14 through U18 teams. It does NOT apply to U12 & U13 grassroots teams**

This year's roster freeze is around the corner, in just nine (9) days from now on Friday, January 16 at 12:00PM.

  • As of next Friday afternoon, changes can no longer be made to your TRRs. Existing players cannot be transferred to another team, and new players can no longer be registered.

  • Additionally, starting Jan 17, players on 'House League' or non-Coliseum TRRs are no longer eligible to play in Coliseum games. All players playing in league games from January 17 to March 1 must be registered to a club's Coliseum TRR (more info on what that means below)

We encourage teams to get the ball rolling on any changes they need to make immediately. Putting through a change requires action by a team manager, their club, Eastern Ontario Soccer (EOS) and the Coliseum. Because of this the process can take multiple days. Do not wait until the 11th hour!!

What is a TRR?

A TRR is a 'Team Roster Report'. This is the official Ontario Soccer Roster that your club provides you with - all players and coaches are listed on it with each individual's photo in the top right corner. Only your club officials have access to it.

How do we know if we need to make changes?

- Check your TRR (if you do not have it, contact your club). If all of the players that will be playing between Jan 17 and the end of the season are on it, you're all set and can disregard the rest of this email

- If you plan on using call ups, be sure they are registered with your club to a lower-level Coliseum TRR

- If you don't have your TRR, aren't sure which TRR a player is registered to, or have any questions regarding your TRR(s), contact your club

How do we make changes?

- Contact your club registrar and let them know which players need to be moved. They will put through the changes to the appropriate TRRs in Sports Engine

- The changes will be reviewed by EOS

- Add the new player(s) to the Coliseum website. If they have not been approved after 72 hours, follow up with your club. It could be a range of things such as the change might not have been put through by the club yet, or not yet approved by EOS, or denied by EOS for another reason

- Once EOS has approved the changes in Sports Engine we'll review and approve the change(s)

Are callups permitted from January 17 onward?

- Yes, but the player you're calling up must be registered to a lower-level Coliseum TRR (i.e., not a House League, Tournament or Rec TRR)

- Players on a House League/Tournament/Rec TRR cannot be called up to play in any Coliseum League games

The information above has been passed on to club officials. If you're not sure of the status of your players or have any questions, contact your club official or the league at admin@coliseum.ca

Thanks,

- Your Coliseum Team

Tiebreaker

In the even that two or more teams are tied on points, the following tiebreaker will be used:

  1. Head-to-head goal encounters

  3. Goal differential

  4. Goals for

  5. Coin toss (have never had to use this, hope we never do!)

Playoff Games Ending in a tie

If the final is tied at the end of regulation, the game goes directly to penalties. Each team has three (3) shooters. The players that are shooting do NOT need to be on the field. If teams are tied after three shooters, penalties move to sudden death 1 for 1. Everyone on the gamesheet must shoot before the first shooter shoots again (one of our league playoff games last year had 15 shooters per team, it can happen!)

Locations

RA Centre

This address for this location is 2451 Riverside Drive (the big white dome). There is parking at the dome. If it's full, you can park across the street by the eastern side of the RA Centre. In the event that both lots are full, there is parking at the Walmart (250-300 meters east of the dome). The staff desk is to your right upon entry to the facility. Please have a coach or manager come by the desk to say hi and check in before your team's first game.

EVERYONE AT THE RA DOME MUST ENTER AND EXIT THROUGH THE MAIN ENTRANCE ONLT. THE MAIN ENTRANCE IS THE REVOLVING DOOR. DO NOT USE THE EMERGENCY EXITS.

All Sunday games will be played at this location. There are games starting at 7:00am on both days at this facility. The dome will be open by no later than 6:30am.

There are two (2) porta potties on site (far from luxurious). They are 10-15 meters from the entrance of the dome, next to the garage. One of them will be locked. This is for females. The key is with staff at the desk. Alternatively, there are several bathrooms at the RA Centre - roughly 200 meters from the entrance of the dome. Upon exiting the facility, look to your right and you will see a blue sign that reads ‘EAST WING’. Walk through those doors, and there will be staff at the desk who can point you in the right direction.

There is no seating at the facility, however they are more than welcome to bring portable chairs. The same goes for teams if you have a portable bench you'd like to bring. Spectators must be 1.5 yards or more away from the touch line. This tends to be a recurring problem. We will continue reminding folks over the course of the weekend, but any help you and your spectators can help provide would be appreciated.

Teams and spectators must sit on opposite sides of the field. The idea is to have team benches adjacent to team benches.neighboring fields.

  • Field #1: South = Spectators, North = Bench Areas

  • Field #2: South = Bench Area, North = Spectators

  • Field #3: South = Spectators, North = Bench Areas

Staff will help point folks in the right direction.

If you or any spectators need snacks or coffee over the course of the weekend, there is a Walmart and a small shopping a couple hundred meters from the dome – opposite direction from the RA Centre. There are bathrooms there too.

We have ice and a first aid kit on hand (but teams are strongly encouraged to bring their own).

OttawaU Lees

The address for this location is 200 Lees Avenue

Only the following divisions have games here on Saturday between 10am-3pm:

  • Boys U14 Tier 1
  • Boys U15
  • Boys U17/18

Please note: the facility will NOT be open until 9:45am on Saturday. Be sure to let your players and parents know so they're not arriving too early. There are NO games here on Sunday.

The bathroom for this facility is in the building across from the entrance of the dome. Go straight/veer slightly left. It's a 20-30 meter walk. If you have trouble finding them, please ask a Coliseum or OttawaU staff member. They will point you in the right direction.

Parking passes will be needed to park at this facility.  These are the same passes that are used for league games. If your team already has them, you are all set. If you do not have them, there will be some available for pickup inside the OttawaU dome. They are on the desk - on your right just past the revolving door entrance.

Pregame/Postgame

There will be just five (5) minutes in between matches. After finishing your game, please immediately direct your players to grab their gear and move it away from the bench areaThe next two teams will drop their gear at their bench area and should be ready to kickoff a couple of minutes later. If the coach wants to do a post-game chat or cool down, he/she may do so behind the nets where they warmed up.

Admin

Game sheets

The Coliseum will be providing game sheets for each match. Here's what we need from the team manager:

  • Ensure everyone's name who is playing is on the gamesheet
  • Double check to ensure they are wearing that jersey number. Multiple players cannot wear the same number. If you have 2 or more players in this boat, bring tape with you to create a unique jersey number
  • If there are players listed on the game sheet that aren’t playing or sitting on the bench, the team manager must cross their name off.

Rosters

Players must be registered in the Ontario Soccer database (Sports Engine) and satisfy the age requirements (or Quebec Soccer equivalent). To note: multiple TRRs can be used for each team. As long as they are on a club's TRR and satisfy the age requirement for the tournament, they are eligible. The same goes for coaches and managers. If they are not on the gamesheet they must sit with the spectators. Teams must bring a copy of their TRR with them.

Please note that rosters cannot be changed after Friday. All players must be printed on the gamesheet. Players added to the roster on Saturday or Sunday will be deemed INELIGIBLE. You should double triple check to ensure everyone who is playing, or MIGHT play is listed on the gamesheet. We will go over player approvals one last time Friday morning (December 26).

Tournament Rules

Below is an overview of our Tournament and 7-a-side rules. If you want to get into the knitty gritty check out our Tournament Rules or 7-A-Side Rules. Here's a brief overview:

Equipment

  • Players may use indoor shoes or cleats, provided the cleats do not have metal studs

  • If teams have a similar jersey colour, it is the responsibility of the home team to change. If your team does not have an alternate jersey be sure to bring pinnies. We will have some but cannot guarantee they weren't worn earlier that day...

Rosters

  • Minimum: Seven (7) players

  • Maximum: Eighteen (18) players

Discipline

  • All fouls/hand balls outside the box are indirect (inside is a PK)

  • Yellow cards result in the player being sent off, and the team to play short for two (2) minutes OR until their opponent scores

  • Red cards result in the player being dismissed from the game, and the team playing short for five (5) minutes (regardless of if their opponent scores)

  • Red card reports will be sent to our remote discipline panel immediately after the conclusion of the game for review and to determine next steps. A decision will be communicated before the team’s next game

Shootouts

  • Playoff games that are tied after regulation will go directly to penalties.

  • Penalties are taken from the top of the box

  • Each team will have three (3) shooters. The players do not need to be on the field when the game ends – any player can shoot. If it is tied after three shooters, penalties continue in sudden death style (1 for 1). All players must shoot before the first penalty taker can shoot a second time.

7-a-side Rules

  • Seven players on the field at a time (including goalkeeper)

  • Ball size five (5)

  • No slide tackling. A slide tackle is considered a slide where an opponent is a yard or less away from a player (not easy to officiate, remind your players to play to the whistle).

  • No offsides

  • Balls that go out along the sides are kick ins (not throw ins)

  • All freekicks outside the box and kickins are indirect

  • Corner kicks, kickoffs and goalkicks are direct

  • Distance on all restarts is five (5) yards

  • Outfield players can sub on the fly. If a team wants to change their goalkeeper they must notify the match official

Other

"The maximum score a team can win a game by is six (6). The entire game will be played, regardless of what the score is, however if a team wins by more than six, the score will input into the website will be the goals the losing team scored plus six for the winner."

Ex: Team A beats Team B 12-2. The final score will be 8-2.

Participant & Spectator Behaviour

The Coliseum will not tolerate foul and abusive languageWhile at the venue, any coach, parent, team official, player or spectator threatening violence or verbal abuse to any individual will be ejected from the facility, and the entire team may be ejected from the tournament. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. If there is an issue, do not engage. Bring it to the attention of our staff.

Last Reminder: the team manager's priority at this time should be getting all of your players added to the Coliseum website. If a player is unlikely to play, but there is still a small chance he or she will, add the to your roster! There are typically a couple of teams asking to add players on Sunday - this is NOT permitted. Make the assumption that a couple of players won't be able to make it on Sunday for whatever reason. There is no harm in adding too many players. You can have up to eighteen (18) players on your roster.

We will be online today and tomorrow, and offline Thursday. We will be online for a couple of hours in the late morning/early afternoon Friday to review player roster requests, respond to any emails and potentially follow up with teams if we forgot any information in this communication.

Have a wonderful rest of the week and holiday. Looking forward to a fun weekend of footy!

Thanks,

- Your Coliseum Team

January 10 Roster Freeze
8 January 2025 @ 9:25 AM by Coliseum Admin

This year's roster freeze is Friday, January 10. This means that as of Friday afternoon changes can no longer be made to your Ontario Soccer TRR or Coliseum roster. Existing players cannot removed or transferred to another team, and new players can no longer be registered. Additionally, from January 11 to the end of the season, players on 'House League' TRRs are not eligible to play in Coliseum games.

We encourage teams to get the ball rolling on any changes they need to make immediately. Putting through a change requires action by a team manager, their club, Eastern Ontario Soccer (EOS) and the Coliseum. Because of this the process can take multiple days. Do not wait until the 11th hour!!

How do we know if we need to make changes?

  • Check your TRR. If all of the players that will be playing between Jan 11 and the end of the season are on it, you're all set!
  • If you plan on using call ups, be sure they are registered with your club to a lower level Coliseum team
  • If you don't have your TRR, aren't sure which TRR a player is registered to, or have any questions relating to your TRRs contact your club

How do we make changes?

  • Contact your club registrar and let them know which players need to be moved
  • Shoot us an email to let us know which players have been moved
  • Once EOS has approved the changes in Sports Engine we'll adjust your Coliseum roster(s)

Are we still allowed using callups?

  • Yes, but the player(s) you're calling up must be registered to a lower level Coliseum TRR (i.e., not a 'House League' TRR)

Parking at OttawaU Lees
13 December 2024 @ 9:05 AM by Coliseum Admin

You need a yellow Coliseum parking pass to park at this facility. Punch the circle out of the middle of it and put it on your rearview mirror.

If you haven't received one yet, they can be picked up at:

  • The RA Centre dome on weeknights between 5-10pm or weekends between 7am-10pm or;
  • The OttawaU dome right before your game

There should be enough parking for Coliseum teams in the main parking lot (G3). However, if the lot is full there is a second parking lot for the Lees Campus and Dome. Parking Lot G4 is another large parking lot that is situated next to the O-Train Station on the other side of Lees Avenue. We have confirmed with the University that your passes are definitely valid in that lot. To enter Parking Lot G4 if you are coming along Lees Avenue from Immaculata turn LEFT at the lights at the O-Train Station into Lot G4, rather than turning left onto the road that leads to LOT G3 and the dome. See the map below.

March Break Tournament Preview
6 March 2024 @ 12:35 PM by Coliseum Admin

Everything teams need to know for the March 9-10 competition can be found here.

Location

All games will be played at the big white dome at 2451 Riverside Drive in Ottawa, ON.

Bathrooms, Food & Amenities

There is a porta potty on site (far from luxurious). It's 10-15 meters from the entrance of the dome, next to the garage. Alternatively, there are several bathrooms around the corner at the RA Centre - roughly 200 meters from the entrance of the dome. Upon exiting the facility, look to your right and you will see a blue sign that reads ‘EAST WING’. Walk through those doors, and there will be staff at the desk who can point you in the right direction. The facility is open from 7am-9pm.

If you or any spectators need snacks or coffee over the course of the weekend, there is a Walmart and a shopping centre a couple hundred meters from the dome – opposite direction from the RA Centre. There are bathrooms there too.

We have ice and a first aid kit on hand (but it never hurts to bring your own!).

Schedule

The schedule has been posted. Once there, go to 'Switch League' (top left), 'Multiple', and select the tournament. There are three girls competitions and two boys - so be sure you are looking at the right team.

Format

The tournament format will depend on which competition your team is in. This information has been communicated to your coaches and managers.

In the event two or more teams are tied in points after the group stage, the following will be used as a tiebreaker:

  1. Head-to-head goal differential

  2. Overall goal differential

  3. Goals scored

  4. Coin toss (have never had to use this, hope we never do!)

Logistics

Pregame

The dome has three (3) 7 v 7 fields, all of which will be used. Field #1 is the field nearest the entrance (south), field #2 is the one in the middle, and field #3 is the field furthest from the entrance (north). The schedule will show field you’re playing at for each game.

Teams may warm up along the space behind the nets that are along the east side of the dome (a lot more space). The east side is the far end to your right upon entering the facility.

Bench & Spectator Area

Spectators are encouraged to come out and show their support! There is no seating at the facility, however they are more than welcome to bring portable chairs. The same goes for teams if you have a portable bench you'd like to bring.

Postgame

There will be just five (5) minutes in between matches. After finishing your game, please direct your players to grab their gear and move it away from the bench area. The next two teams will drop their gear at their bench area and should be ready to kickoff a couple of minutes later. If the coach wants to do a postgame chat or cool down, he/she may do so behind the nets where they warmed up.

Admin

Game sheets

The Coliseum will be providing game sheets for each match. They'll be on the front desk if you need to make changes to it before kickoff. The referee will have in on them during the game.

Here's what we need from the team manager:

  • Jersey numbers. If your team plays in the Coliseum league and players + jersey numbers are the same let us know and we'll take care of it. If not, you will either email them to us by Friday at admin@coliseum.ca, or come by the desk before each of your team's games to fill them in.
  • If there are players listed on the game sheet that aren’t playing, the team manager must cross their name off.
  • Please make sure you know what time and field # your team is playing at (particularly those teams with back to backs!).

Rosters

Players must be registered in the Ontario Soccer / Soccer Quebec database and satisfy the age requirements. The same goes for coaches and managers. If they are not on the TRR they must sit with the spectators. Teams must bring a copy of their TRR with them. Please note that rosters cannot be changed after Friday. Players added to the roster on Saturday or Sunday will be deemed INELIGIBLE.

Tournament Rules

Below is an overview of our Tournament and 7-a-side rules. If you want to get into the knitty gritty check out our March Break Tournament Rules or 7-A-Side Rules. Here's a brief overview:

Equipment

  • Players may use indoor shoes or cleats, provided the cleats do not have metal studs. Be advised that the turf is on it's last legs. Good news: it's being replaced May 2024. The new turf will be what is used at new Julian de Guzman Park

  • If teams have a similar jersey colour, it is the responsibility of the home team to change. If your team does not have an alternate jersey be sure to bring pinnies. We will have some but cannot guarantee they were previously worn that day..

Discipline

  • All fouls/hand balls outside the box are indirect

  • Yellow cards result in the player being sent off, and the team to play short for two (2) minutes (regardless of if their opponent scores)

Shootouts

  • Group games can finish as a tie

  • Playoff games that are tied after regulation will go directly to penalties.

  • Penalties are taken from the top of the box

  • Each team will have three (3) shooters. The players do not need to be on the field when the game ends – any player can shoot. If it is tied after three shooters, penalties continue in sudden death style (1 for 1). All players must shoot before the first penalty taker can shoot a second time.

7-a-side Rules

  • Seven players on the field at a time (including goalkeeper)

  • Ball size five (5)

  • No slide tackling. A slide tackle is considered a slide where an opponent is a yard or less away from a player

  • No offsides

  • Balls that go out along the sides are kick ins (not throw ins)

  • Kickins, and freekicks outside the box are indirect

  • Corner kicks are direct, as are kickoffs and goal kicks

  • Distance on all restarts is five (5) yards

  • Outfield players can sub on the fly. If a team wants to change their goalkeeper they must notify the match official

Participant & Spectator Behaviour

The Coliseum will not tolerate foul and abusive language. While at the venue, any coach, parent, team official, player or spectator threatening violence or verbal abuse to any individual will be ejected from the facility, and the entire team may be ejected from the tournament. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. If there is an issue, do not engage. Bring it to the attention of Coliseum staff.
